May 29, 2020 - Update

During this pandemic, it is essential that we communicate in an efficient and timely manner with our families. We are into our 13th week and we are happy to share that we do not have any reported cases of COVID-19 on our campus.  We continue to #holdtheline to make sure this monster stays out of our building.

West View Healthy Living is committed to the safety and well being of our staff, our residents and their families.  We continue to maximize our disinfecting precautions to keep COVID-19 out of our building.

In an effort to keep our families and friends updated, I would like to share a few things with you.

1) On May 28th, the Governor shared that Assisted Living Facilities are permitted to have modified visits.  I’m proud to say that the Drive-Up Visitation Policy that West View implemented will continue with the following changes effective Monday, June 1st,

a. All individuals inside the vehicle will be screened through a series of questions.  Everyone will be required to bring their own mask and wear it during the visit.  We will also need to verify ID’s for everyone in the vehicle prior to the visit.  In addition, we will now be required to take temperatures of all individuals in the vehicle.  If anyone in the vehicle does not meet the criteria during screening, the visit will not be permitted. Please remember that all visitors must remain in the vehicle at all times.
Please know that we realize how hard this may be for you and your family.  Trust us, it is hard on us too.  We respect what the Governor is trying to do to protect everyone, and we hope that you understand and respect how important this is.  We are #holdingtheline and we want to ensure that COVID-19 doesn’t enter our building.
b. Let’s talk a little bit about dropping items off for your loved one.  We ask that if you are dropping multiple items off at one time, please remember to bag “like items” together. For instance, if you are bringing clothes, food and books.  Please package all like items together.  It is necessary for us to ensure all items are sanitized properly prior to giving to our residents.  Also, all clothing will need to be delivered to laundry prior to being delivered to the resident.
c. I would like to let everyone know that West View, or a provider that has been screened, is able to transport residents to their medical appointments.  If a family member is planning to transport the resident, please know that the resident will be required quarantined for 14 days upon return.

Again, we know this is a difficult time for everyone, but we need you to please understand our position.  We are trying to make sure that everyone stays safe and healthy.
Just a reminder ~ if we were to have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or if we have three or more residents or staff present with new onset respiratory symptoms within a 72 hour period, we will communicate this to you.   We want you to be assured that we are being proactive.

While we continue to pray that we will not have any cases, we are prepared if we do.  We have implemented a West View Healthy Living COVID-19 Response Team.  This responsive team has been trained on enhanced infection control precautions based on the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The means of communication will be very important too.  We have a COVID-19 Communications Team who has been working on a plan to keep you updated if the need arises.  Our team will communicate in the following ways to keep our families updated:

• First case – call primary contact for each resident.  If we are unable to contact this person, we will direct them to the designated West View Information Line.
• Of course, this dedicated phone line
• Written communication, WVHL Website and Facebook page

Again, thank you for trusting us to take care of your family.  We appreciate your confidence in us.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are in this together!
